What Causes Bloating, Abdominal Pain And Belching When Diagnosed With Diverticulitis?

Hi, I started having digestive issues a few weeks ago. They seem to have come on pretty suddenly. I have bloating, abdominal pain usually on the right but sometimes higher and sometimes lower and more to the center. I have been having a lot of gas and belching - even when drinking water. My bowel movements have changed also - used to go twice a day regularly - now every other day, still sometimes twice though. When I have to go it feels urgent. I was diagnosed with diverticulitis many years ago, but haven t had any symptoms since until now. But this seems to have more gas and bloating.

Hello,

As a first line management you can take antacids like omeprazole for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist, it is better to consult a physician and get evaluated.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
