What Causes Abdominal Pain, Bloating And Loose Bowel Movement?

I have a persistent, low-grade fever, diffuse abdominal pain, bloating, cramping, feeling of fullness, nausea, and frequent, loose bowel movements. I ve had a sigmoid colon resection for severe diverticulitis 7 years ago. I have episodes that feel similar to when I would have diverticulitis. Just wondering what might be causing my pain.

Hi,
Welcome to health care magic,

All these symptoms of abdominal pain, bloating, cramping, stomach fullness, nausea and frequent loose bowel movements could be due to stomach upset which in turn is likely due to gastroenteritis or irritable bowel syndrome or recurrent colitis but here there is no need to worry as it can be cured by medications and diet.

You should go for routine blood tests and stool examination with ultrasound abdomen if not done previously.

Meanwhile, you should take antacids (pantoprazole) available over the counter with antibiotics (ofloxacin with ornidazole) and symptomatic treatment.Your nearby GP may prescribe it.

Avoid oily, spicy and non-veg foods for at least 3 to 5 days and must not take alcohol.

You will feel better within 5 to 10 days of this medications.

If symptoms persists then see gastroenterologist who may advice you upper GI endoscopy and will give you further advice accordingly.

Regards,
