hi, my dad noticed a blister on the roof of the mouth. slightly at the back and on the left side about 3 days ago. he said it felt like a mung seed. 48 hours after it burst. think it has now formed an ulcer. it's whitish/greyish in colour, round and not painful. less than 1cm. there is only a single ulcer on its own. he doesn't recall any trauma to it. how long does it take to heal? should i be worried?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concern.
As per your complain a small blister or mung seed like bump over the roof of mouth that is painless seems to be a mucous cyst or mucocele that is formed due to trauma to the roof of the mouth leading to ruptured duct of the gland and accumulation of the mucous into soft tissues.. As it might have ruptured there seems to be appearance of a painless blister.. As it is painless and not causing any discomfort I would suggest you do warm saline gargles and do not worry about it.. In case if it becomes painful or forms again consult an Oral Physician and get evaluated.. As of now nothing seems worrisome..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora.
