What Causes Black Stools And Pain In Kidney Area?

Hello, this last week I have been feeling a pain in the lower right of my back internally which I believe could be my kidney. Around the same time my stools have started being black every time. The pain in my back has been getting worse everyday (as in the first few days I only felt it waking up but now I can barely move and it hurts). I am not sure if the two are connected but I just thought that they could possibly be connected and am making a doctors appointment tomorrow just to be safe. Do you know what could possibly be wrong so I can ask my doctor in my appointment?
