What Causes Binge Eating And Food Cravings Long After Suffering From Depression?

For years I have suffered from depression and addiction issues. Somehow, I have managed to obtain 40+ years clean and sober in AA. Yesterday I came across something that talked about the connection to dopemine and eating disorders, sugar cravings, tobacco cravings, etc. Would you have any suggestions as to what therapy might be involved besides psycho etc. and massive amounts of meds. I would appreciate any suggestions you might offer. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

The increased appetite and weight gain, food cravings are part of side effect of certain drugs used for depression as their mechanics on hunger and satiety receptors of the brain. Kindly discuss the need of any change in the dosage or molecule with your treating physician rather than deciding irrelevant way just to get panic only.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel, General Surgeon
