Hi, Based on your description, it appears that you are having Alopecia areata , also known as spot baldness . It is believed to be an autoimmune disease. The underlying mechanism involves the failure by the body to recognize its own cells with subsequent immune-mediated destruction of the hair follicle. It is not a contagious disease and there is no cure for the condition. Treatment given would to speed hair regrowth by means of cortisone injections.
