Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Back Pain Around The Left Side Of The Shoulder Blade?
I have had type 1 diabetes for 10 years. The past couple of years I have had more digestive related issues and back pain. My back pain is on the left side near my shoulder blade. It feels like tingling and burning. I was treated by a physical therapist for 2 months which helped loosen the surrounding muscles so the pain is not as intense. There does seem to be a relationship to when I eat and my back pain ( I believe nerve). I already eat a gluten and dairy free diet and I do a good job of keeping track of my blood sugar levels. Could this pain be connected to my pancreas?
I don't believe the shoulder pain is related to pancreas or eating. It is caused by nerve suppression because it gives tingling and burning. I think you should check the cervical spine by doing an X-ray of the cervical spine.
The physical therapy is always a good option. Using anti-inflammatory drugs such as Advil or Naproxen can help reduce inflammation and pain.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Dr. Olgeta Xhufka,
