Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

I think the avascular necrosis of the bones in the joint is due to the previous treatment with steroids. It is already known scientifically that cortisone (steroids) increases the risk for avascular necrosis of the hips and other joints. I think that your husband should have a knee replacement surgery sooner or later.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Edvin Selmani
