What Causes Audio Hallucinations And Psychotic Episodes While Having ADHD And OCD?

My adult son has been diagnosed with ASD, ADHD,NLD, OCD and Psychotic-disorder-NOS and he has been treated by a few Antipsychotic medication, etc but continues hearing voices or having a delusion episode. Would there be a treatment center in Canada or ? if it does, what would be the cost and the duration of assessment by a multidisciplinary team. We live in Canada and we have Medicare coverage but has to get approval before we can consult out of Country if nothing can be done here.

Hello and Welcome to 'Ask A Doctor' service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

I am sorry that your son is having all of these problems with his mental health.

In order for him to receive the best possible care, I highly recommend that he be seen and evaluated by an experienced, adult psychiatrist at a university medical center. It is these doctors who get referrals from community doctors of patients with the most difficulties. Medical center psychiatrists are more likely to know about the latest therapies and medications in their field.

You will find university medical centers in large cities like Toronto and Montreal.

As I am certain that you know there is a long road involved in the treatment of many psychiatric illnesses. Find a good psychiatrist for your son. A suggestion for you is to lookup the Department of Psychiatry at one of the university medical centers and read the bios of the adult psychiatrists. When you find a psychiatrist that you and your son are comfortable with and with whom he is making progress with stay with him/her even if it means you have to travel a bit farther for his appointments. It will be worth it.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
