What Causes Arm Pain While On Treatment For An Abscess?

I have An abcess on the top side just under the bend on my arm it hurt super bad and was very swollen so I took antibiotics I had left from a previouse infection I have taken two a day for the past 4 days the swelling has gone down but there is still a red hard lump with a little swelling and I have a tight pain in my muscle all the way up to my arm pit today was the last day of antibiotics not sure if the pain up my arm is normal or what to do from here

Hi,

The pain in the arm is attributed to residual infection within the abscess area. You still need a further course of antibiotic along with anti-inflammatory drugs as Ibuprofen every 6-8 hourly to get best early recovery.
