What Causes Appetite Loss Along And Stomach Pain While Suffering From Kidney Stones?

my son is 16 years old, multiple kidney stones in each kidney (very small ones, but prevalent), loss of appetite, sour stomach most often, urge to vomit most every morning. not on any medications, however, has taken Accutane for 6-8 months when was 14 years old - family doctor has no idea whats going on, blood tests came back good, however, still awaiting for results from urine that was sent in for diagnosis; any ideas as to what could be going on? has been going on for approx 6-7 months feeling bad. thank you

OBGYN 's  Response
Hi,

First of all, it's not necessary that these two conditions can be related to each other. What I mean to say is that it's not necessary that his stomach problems are because of the kidney stones. Here's what I will advice you to do -
1. make him drink a glass of lukewarm water as soon as he wakes up in the morning.
2. avoid giving him any sort of junk food.
3. give him home cooked food that has fewer spices and oil.
4. give him something to eat after every 3 hours.
5. keep him hydrated throughout the day it will help him flush out the stones from his kidneys.

If the problem persists, consult a gastroenterologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Safeena Akhtar, OBGYN
