Greetings, I have been having some anxiety attacks lately during the day as well as during the night. I have been otherwise getting a decent night's sleep however i am having a hard time taking a deep breath, feel a little tightness in the chest and i am fidgity. What could be going on? Thanks - Jake
Hello thanks for choosing HCM for your health related queries
I can understand your concern. Sudden onset chest tightness, fidgeting and restlessness etc symptoms denote some anxiety. You have been suffering from anxiety both during the day as well as during the night. In my opinion these symptoms suggest Generalised Anxiety Disorder and need proper evaluation. In anxiety medicines like SSRIs are commonly used. Sertraline, Fluoxetine, Paroxetine etc are commonly used medicines for anxiety. Apart from this low dose benzodiazepines can be used in severe anxiety provoking situations like in panic like states. Psychological methods like Behaviour therapy and relaxation exercises are also equally efficacious to medicines. Please consult a psychiatrist for evaluation and treatment.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
