Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes Anal Bleeding With History Of Hysterectomy?
I m a 53 year old woman with no ovaries due to a full hysterectomy because of a diagnosis of lobular carcinoma in situ back in 2000.The hysterectomy was done in 2001.Recently;after wiping myself after having a poop;there was blood. The blood was on the tissue and quite noticeable. It was a trace amount and I thought nothing of it.Then about 3 weeks after;it happened again but that second time;the blood was more red than before.Should I be checked for cancer somewhere else in my body or could it be a bleeding ulcer or even an infection?Thank you.
Thanks for posting your question on HCM! I appreciate your concern. I am of the opinion that cause of bleeding while pooing should be investigated thoroughly. The bright red color bleeding during defecation can arise from hemorrhoids, rectal polyp or anal fissures. Another possibility is that the tumor might have spread to other adjacent structures before the hysterectomy was done. Kindly consult the gynecologist for evaluation and treatment. Best regards!
