What Causes Anal Bleeding During Bowel Movement Or Urination?

I started bleeding from my anus three days ago. It is bright red when I sit for a bowel movement or for urination. I don t have any pain when this happens but I have been feeling a little discomfort in my abdominal area kinda when I used to have my periods. I don t have periods anymore, I am 58 years old. I don t have health insurance. Should I be concerned or have to see a doctor?

Hi,

Your symptoms suggest anorectal bleeding. It can be piles (here bleeding is with constipation and hard stools) while straining for dedication. To avoid constipation by using stool softener like Cremaffin, medicine to prevent bleeding like Cap CVP over the counter can be taken orally. Pilex ointment locally would help excessive stress in dedication. For more specific treatment like surgical removal of piles. you need to consult an anorectal surgeon.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
