What Causes An Overactive Bladder And Abdominal Cramps?

Hi so I was wondering about something. My girlfriend has an extremely overactive bladder that causes her extreme pain due to cramping. It seems to be a nerve problem and i m trying to figure out what it might be. Shes been hospitalized because of the pain and is on various med s to try and help her with the pain and controlling the cramps. Sometimes the med s work but often they don t. So far the only thing that seems to help is back massages and physiotherapy. So far over the months they have ruled out the issue as bladder based because there is no inflammation and no growths, she doesn t have urine leakage either. I wanted to see what I could find out because so far the doctors that have been treating her at the hospital haven t figured it out yet.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

If there is a neurological problem than the causes may be multiple sclerosis, stroke or neuropathy caused by diabetes. Anxiety and depression may be also a reason.

Behavioural therapy, Kegel exercises may help. Also to avoid bladder irritants such as coffee or alcohol.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
