What Causes An Episode Of Throbbing Pain In Chest Radiating To Spinal Canal?

Weird thing today. Generally in good health, job 4-5 times/week for 4-8 miles. Today climbed up 6 flights of stairs to meeting, other than being slightly out of breath, when I sat down has pain in spine...not muscular, but actually in spinal canal with pulsing. Pain was greatest in lumbar with heavy throbbing but went up spinal canal to head with slight HA. Also running low grade temp. Resolved after 2-3 min.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be a neuropathic pain arising from prolapsed disc and associated nerve compression. As a first line management you can take drugs like Gabapentin for symptomatic relief.

If symptoms persist better to consult a neurologist and get evaluated. You might require an MRI scan for further assessment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Wishing you all the best.

Regards,
Dr. Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
