What Causes An Altered Sense Of Taste?

strange taste and smell, mostly taste, everything I eat this terrible taste takes over, I thought the roast, potatoes, or carrots were spoiled, because it didn t smell right, and certainly did not taste right, everyone else said it was wonderful, great, delicious, but I could not eat it I felt I would vomit, it tasted really spoiled, and the smell almost as bad. I am a pretty active 60 year old, have recently been diagnosed with low immune response and rheumatoid arthritis, had a headache when I got up Sat. am, it went away, I worked hard in the yard about 8 - 9:00pm, got up on Sunday morning, had that smell and bad taste, and today is Monday and it is still present.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

You need a diagnostic nasal endoscopy by an ENT surgeon. We have to see the nose first. If there is no abnormality, then you should complete olfactory testing and cranial nerve testing.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rajat Basak
