What Causes An Altered Sense Of Taste Upon Coughing?

I m not sick I don t have sinus pnumonia or bronchitis. I do have moderate copd and cough up phlem a lot. But today when I cough I taste bleach. It only happens once in a while. I know when I cough and it tastes like peanuts I have bronchitis. Why I don t know but the chlorine taste perplexs me. I am a smoker.

I can understand your concern.
Since you are active smoker and having COPD (chronic obstructive Pulmonary disease), you are always at risk of lung infections.
And this is the most likely cause for your bad tested sputum.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done clinical examination of respiratory system and chest x ray.
You should quit smoking as soon as possible.
You will also need azithromycin (broad spectrum antibiotic) for lung infection.
Once this thing is over, get yourself vaccinate for adult respiratory vaccines like pneumococcal and influenza to prevent recurrent lung infections.
