What Causes An Altered Sense Of Taste After Dental Extraction?

I had my bottom back lower tooth pulled four days ago and today I woke up really sick feeling and taste the same taste I was tasting before I got the tooth pulled which is like a poison taste. I don't know what the taste is from I was fine the last two days and then now I'm nauseated and there's yellowish white stuff in the hole where the tooth was pulled. Is this normal or should I be concerned?

Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Bad taste in mouth after 4 days of tooth extraction can be probably due to infection at the site of extraction and as the yellowish white stuff is present in the extraction socket then it is clear that the healing tissue is present and you have not developed dry socket..
Therefore you need not to be concerned..
You can just start doing warm saline gargles and do antiseptic mouthwash gargles like Chlorohexidine..
Do not let food particles accumulate in the extraction site..
If still the bad taste does not get better then you need to get a script of antibiotics like Amoxicillin for atleast 5 days after consulting your dentist..

Hope this helps..

Regards.
