What Causes Aggressive Behaviour After A Head Injury?

My 93 year old mother fell in late 2016 and suffered an acute subdorral hemotoma. She was in great health mentally before this fall. She now lives in an adult family home and has been prescribed a low dose for her mood. She has never gotten agitated to the point of wanting to hit someone but on the last couple of weeks she has threatened to. She has been on this medication for awhile at least a couple of months everyday. Should she be taking this drug instead of something like Zoloft

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

The aggressive behavior after head injury indicates underlying insult of brain tissue involving various reasons through subdural hemorrhage.

I suggest you to do follow-up consultation with latest MRI report.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel
