Hi,I am Dr. Gopal Goel (Orthopaedic Surgeon). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hi, I was at work on the 17 of july and lifted a 20 foot stick of 3 1/2 inch drill pipe, and I felt a pop in my lower back " hurt like hell" but I finished the day and went home. Tonight in bed trying to turn over or get up out of bed very VERY hard core pain, like almost 15 mins to stand up. I would try to get out of bed and I would move and sharp pain. Now I don't know what to think or do, I have always lifted heavy stuff at work and have had miner back pain before but never felt like this... PS I don't fill as bad when standing or setting. help would be greatly appreciated..

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM I have gone through your query.Your problem is most likely a sprain or strain. But it is better to rule out injury to spine like intervertebral disc herniation by having a physical examination with an orthopedician and to take an X ray followed by MRI if needed. For such cases in my patients i advise NSAIDs like Aceclofenac muscle relaxants like thiocolchicoside and neurotropic drugs.I also advise rest for 3-4 days followed by physiotherapy if pain persist.Hope this may help you. Let me know if you have any further query.
