What causes acid reflux and hiccups?

A few months ago I experienced an issue while eating lunch. I was eating chicken and started to hiccup. Then it felt like I had an extreme case of heartburn. I was throwing up anything after that to include my saliva. I went to the emergency room and I had food lodged in my esophagus that had to be removed. Since that incident it has occurred two more times but I was able to get it down on my own. What could be causing this?

Dear just check for your esophagus motility .

possible causes are

1.Esophageal spasm
2.Achalasia cardia
6.Gerd with Barrett's esophagus etc..

Please consult your Gastroentrologist he will do Upper GI endoscopy and barium swallow study and treat you accordingly.

Take care.
