What Causes Acid Reflux And Choking Sensation While On Levothyroxine?
My thyroid was removed by a radiation drink, I now am on levothyroxine for the rest of my life, I am 70 years old, active, teaching. My concern is I find that I don t seem to swallow the same I feel that there is a slight restriction there. I really feel the cold and can put on a kilo in a week then lose it but cannot seem to successfully diet. I also have a refux problem with spicy foods. What I am wondering is it through the thyroxine tablets or could it be esophagus cancer? Thank you
As per your query your thyroid was removed by a radiation , now you are on Levothyroxine and facing problem like acid reflux . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to many reasons like dysfunction of esophageal sphincter but in your case it seems to me that problem is due to the drug your are taking that is Levothyroxine as its side effects . This drugs known to cause stomach cramps , chest pain and difficulty in swallowing . I would suggest you to consult your doctor and discuss the condition with him/her . Doctor may alter the dose or prescribe some substitute . For now elevate your head while sleeping , avoid spicy and heavy food specially at night and take antacid after every meal .
Hope your concern has been resolved.
