What Causes Abdominal Pain With Blood In Stool?

Hello, My 6 year old started complaining of stomachaches.... in the middle of her abdomen. She has had regular bowl movements but all of a sudden has had a mucus like substance that has blood in it and smells like fish. She is totally fine in between episodes and has a normal appetite as well. No fever. Thank you in advance

I really appreciate your concern,
Bright red coloured stool is due to lower Gastro intestinal tract lesions like Polyp, Haemorrhoids, Fissure in ano etc.These lesions will be diagnosed with Colonoscopy. In fissure, there will pain during defecation and bleeding sometimes.
Dark red coloured stool can be due to lesion in upper gut like Stomach or duodenal Ulcer,gastritis, Cancer etc . Upper GI Endoscopy will confirm the diagnosis.
Alternative constipation and diarrhoea can be due to Irritable bowel syndrome. I prescribe Pre and Probiotic capsule to my patients with similar complaints.
Please give high fiber diet, drink plenty of liquids, eat fresh fruits and vegetables. Your 6 yr olds stool should be soft.
Please consult your doctor and get investigated. Please get Upper GI ENDOSCOPY and Colonoscopy.
