Hi,

To explain the reason of your pain, I would like to explain you a normal phenomenon is the female body called "ovulation". There are two ovaries in female body. Every ovary makes egg every alternate month. This egg either gets fertilized during intercourse or if unfertilized, gets sloughed out of the body during menstruation. The process of release of this egg from ovary into fallopian tube to be available for fertilization every month is called ovulation.

This ovulation usually occurs halfway through the menstrual cycle. So if your cycle is of 28 days, you can expect ovulation around 14th day of the cycle. Let me point out here that the first day of your periods is the first day of your menstrual cycle. You are informing that this is the 10th day after your last period. So this might be the time you are ovulating. Little pain in lower abdominal area during these days is quite normal and there is nothing to worry about. It will pass on its own.

However, I would like to advise you that if you had irregular periods, you should not stop medicines on your own after just one month unless it was prescribed that way by the doctor. Usually, these medicines require to be continued for more than a month. So if you have stopped it by yourself, you should ask the doctor if you need to continue them.

If the pain do not go away in 3-4 days, there might be some other stomach related cause for the pain and not ovulation. In that case, it would be advisable to visit a physician for physical examination and needful treatment.

I hope this information helps. Thank you for choosing HealthCareMagic. Take care.

Best,
Dr. Viraj Shah
