What Causes Abdominal Pain, Diarrhea And Vomiting With Low Grade Fever?

My 20 year old son had stomach pain diarrhea and vomited, headache and low grade fever. It s been a week now no more diarrhea or vomiting he now feels full all the time but has not been eating much at all. Last night he had a slight cough with a little shortness of breath. Any idea what this could be?

Hello,

* As per my clinical experience, the symptoms of abdomen pain, diarrhea and vomiting with low grade fever indicate underlying GI infection most likely from salmonella typhi or other intestine bug.

* My guidelines at present

- allow him more liquids in form of boiled water, lemon juice, coconut water, home made juices
- prefer easily digestible food stuffs with organic fresh fruits
- prescription of anti emetic as ondancetron, proton pump inhibitor as lanzoprazole, antipyretic as acetaminophen, GI specific antibiotics as cefixime, metronidazole flora support with lacto bacillus or sacromysis bullardie.

* Depending upon the clinical evaluation and response, one may have to undergo lab reports of complete hemogram, serum widal , urine microscopy or other.
