What Causes Abdominal Pain And Headache Along With Low Grade Fever?
My daughter hasn t been feeling well. She was in the ER last night for sudden pain to the abdominal (right) side. Now today she has a very stiff neck and extremely sensitive to the base of the head. She also is feeling bloated and not right. By the time we got her in to see a doctor last night (1 1/2 hours later)... the symptoms had subsided. She was also nauseous and running a very low grade fever. She has had sensitivity to light and having headaches. She was sick about a week ago with a viral infection. She also has recurring MRSA. I m concerned her symptoms sound like menigitis. What are your thoughts?
Hi. Thanks for your query. Noted the history and understood the concerns. The symptoms that your daughter has of neck and head pain, nausea, raised sensitivity to light and light fever all indicate towards meningitis and should be the first differential diagnosis unless proved otherwise. This can be viral meningitis or bacterial as she has recurrent MRSA infections. This can be diagnosed and treated as follows: Proper clinical evaluation and examination by your Doctor and preferably second opinion of a Neurologist. May need a CSF means cerebrospinal fluid examination by spinal tap and send it for examination. A proper management on admission in the hospital is very important, insist for this one.
