What Causes Abdominal Bloating And Constipation After A Cholecystectomy?

hi I am 32 I have had my gallbladder out last may no stones just chronic colitis. I had lost a lot of weight after my surgery I was feeling great had all my energy back, ect. recently in the last month I have started to notice severe bloating and I was constipated for about 7 days nothing I did could help and normally now since I had my gallbladder removed I always have loose stools. after the 7days of constipation I had very loose watery stools, still bloated and now for about one week I have had some really discomforting pains on the right side of my abdomen, starts on the right side of my bely button all the way up to my ribs. today for the first time I notice I had dark red blood in my stool again it was watery and its was hard to come out at the same time and it was painful in my stomach where I described earlier, no fevers that I have noticed but a major major lack of energy.

Hi,

As per your clinical history, please follow like this:

1) Do a clinical examination by your Doctor [gastroenterologist] and to know exact cause do few investigations like[CBC with differential, Stool occult blood, Capsule endoscopy, Colonoscopy and MRI scan].

2) Discuss with your Doctor about [Ciprofloxacin] and [Metronidazole] and add other medicines after investigations report only.

3) Do take iron, vitamin B 12 and calcium regularly.

Do follow lifestyle modifications like this -

1) Try to limit dairy products.Try to use an enzyme product such as [Lactaid] and it is an OTC product.

2) Try low-fat foods so try avoiding butter, margarine, cream sauces and fried foods and limit fiber, such as fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains.

3) Try to avoid spicy foods, alcohol, and caffeine, etcetera.

4) Try to eat small meals. So you can eat five or six small meals a day rather than two larger ones.

5) Try to drink plenty of fluids daily.

6) Try to avoid smoking and make a plan to reduce stress.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Uday Nath Sahoo
