What Causes A Tickling Sensation At The Back Of The Throat?

I have started having a tickling sensation at the back of my throat like i need to cough or clear it. I noticed today a small flap at the back of my throat, now i have a visible epiglotis, i ve never seen it before or been able to. Should i go to a doctor?
