Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Swollen Bump Near The Nose After Usage Of A Mask?
My 40 year old special needs son has a pulmonary condition that his doctor is treating. He sleeps with a Trilogy machine and mask for his afternoon nap and at night. When I put his mask on after lunch today I noticed a swelling on the side of the bridge of his nose about the size of small grape. This evening the swelling is about twice that size and reddish in color. He likes to sleep on his right side and sometimes the mask will press against this area of his nose. I don t think it s a stye, it s not on the eyelid, it s between his nose and his eye. I saw the term Chalasion, but it s not on the eyelid. Maybe an infected tear duct? What does this sound like to you?
Hello dear Greetings Regarding your son's experience with a swollen lump on the bridge line of his nose following usage of oxygen mask for pulmonary disease I am suggesting strongly that he has developed an cosmetic dermatitis following Allergic reaction from the mask
In view of this please see a dermatologist specialist for further clinical assessment Councelling and adequate drug prescription
I hope this helps Regards
