What Causes A Small Lump With Calcified Mass At The Center?

Female. I have a mass or a tumour on my hand that they say is non specific soft tissues tumour. It has blood vessels in it and a tiny calcified mass in the centre. It is soft to touch and does not normally hurt. Located at the base of right index and right middle fingers. Slightly behind and in the middle. Had appearance of a ganglion cyst but ultrasound showed above result. Under the surface with no discolouration. Had it about two years - thought it was a ganglion and it was under observation. Very slow growing. Less than size of a quarter. History of non-Hodgkin lymphoma with a BMT 2009. Hoping non specific means unknown cause and wishful thinking it is in the 95% of hand tumours that are non cancerous. Plastic Surgeon will excise it tomorrow in day surgery with a local. Thanks.

OB and GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Ganglions are usually benign and need not worry about it as it reoccurs. As you are already going to remove it, I suggest you send it for HPE as you had a history of non-Hodgkins lymphoma.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Naira Jahangir, OB and GYN Specialist
