What Causes A Red Itchy Spot Post Application Of Surgical Spirit?

Hi!

I was called day before yesterday to donate blood. Doctor took sample blood to cross-match. After few hours, itching started wherever surgical spirit applied. Now there is big red swollen spot. I am worried. Help!

Hello. This is a contact dermatitis allergic reaction to the surgical spirit and nothing serious. Just take some oral Benadryl and apply some Caladryl lotion to the area and it should resolve in a day or two.
