What Causes A Rash On The Thigh After A Knee Replacement Surgery?

I just had a partial knee replacement on March 8. The covering came walk on March 15. Since then I have developed a very large rash going up to my mid thigh and down to my ankle. I’ve been using Cortizone cream and Benadryl and it doesn’t seem to be working. Any ideas or suggestions?

Hello,

Who told you rashes to be treated with the steroid cream or with Benadryl. It actually increases if it is infectious. Kindly don't use any medication without the prescription. If it is itchy then you should have used an antihistaminic cream like levocetirizine cream frirst or if it is infectious you need to be started with antibiotic cream or a medication like clindamycin or neomycin.

Steroids are the last resort treatment to be given. Kindly use the above medications and if there is no improvement then get back to follow with us.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Archana
