What Causes A Random Fast Heartbeat ?

Sometimes my heart will randomly start pounding so bad it hurts. It will only happen for about 5 seconds, and it occurs really randomly. It happens every 2-3 days. Is this a symptom of something serious or should I not worry about it?

There are multiple causes of intermittent palpitations, it will require : Blood work. EKG If necessary your doctor can recommend :- Echocardiogram. or ETT & other tests. Avoid stimulants.
