Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I took my daughter to the Dr about 7 weeks ago for a sore throat, and a lump the size of a lima bean or so on the right side of her neck. turns out it was strep. a round of antibiotics got rid of the strep but the lump remains there still...not any bigger but there. Does it take a while for an infection (lump) to go away?
Hello dear. Your daughter might be having peritonsillar abcess or just enlargement of lymph nodes of neck. If you have finished a coarse of antibiotics you can wait for a week and see if the swelling subsides. Generally it takes few days time for the swelling to come down. If it is not coming down by a week consult the physician and see if another coarse of antibiotics required or intravenous antibiotics required.. Hope I have answered your requestion. Feel free to consult me in case there are more queries With regards Dr Sanjay Kini
