Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What could this lump on my wrist be? Its a little painful and looks like my vein is swelling. The skin around it also seems a little swollen. I ve had it for a while now and doctors can never tell me what it is, but they did extract a pink colored substance from it. What could it be?
Hi I can understand your problem nothing to worry, you will be alright.
Apparently you are having a swelling around your wrist which is referred to as ganglioncyst. It is a non-cancerous soft tissue lump that may occur in any joint, but most often occurs on, around, or near joints and tendons in the hands or feet. These cysts are caused by leakage of fluid from the joint into the surrounding tissue. It seems your doctor has aspirated the contents of the cyst. Incomplete aspiration may result in recurrence of the lesion which is more common following excision of a ganglion cyst in the wrist.
You are advised to have a follow up with the doctor. Take care
