Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a lump that developed today just underneath my right ear. It is about the size of a chicken egg. It initially felt like a muscle spasm but it has been present for 8 hours. There is slight discomfort when I touch it but not very painful. What could this be?
I can understand your concern. The area you are describing contains lymph nodes that drains the ear, TMJ and neck area.
The lymph node swells and becomes tender when any of the area mentioned above becomes infected. Chances are more that you are suffering from an ear infection.
I would advise you to start with antibiotic treatment. You can take Cefixime 200 mg twice a day for 5 days. If the swelling persists or does not decrease in size after 5 days, then you should see an ENT specialist.
I hope this information helps you. Thank you for choosing HealthcareMagic. I wish you feel better soon.
Best, Dr. Viraj Shah
