What Causes A Painful Boil On Groin Despite Using Antibiotics?

I had a boil in my groin lanced on Friday. It is not packed and I am on 2 different antibiotics. It felt significantly better yesterday morning, but last night it started hurting again. Should I be concerned? I didn t get much guidance on aftercare, so I ve been leaving it open (no clothes or bandage) and washing it with antibacterial soap a few times a day. Should I be doing something else?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain a painful boil on groin can be due to causes like hair follicle infection, infected gland in the area, excess accumulation of moisture through the undergarments, infection over skin, rubbing of skin in obese individuals etc..

As you have got the boil lanced and is left open it can get re-infected and can become more painful then before..
I would suggest you to start cleaning the area with antiseptic solution and apply a Triple antibiotic Ointment over it..
You can cover it with a sterile gauze that has to be changed daily..
Keep the area clean and dry and avoid moisture accumulation..

In case if it worsen consult a General Physician and get evaluated..
