What Causes A Painful, Blood Filled Lump On The Waist?

I have a weird spot on my waistline. It s dark colored, kinda round.. And I ve had it for two weeks and it just doesn t want to go away. It started off like a blood blister, and looked like it had popped, as there was white flaky skin a little while later.. Last night it decided to bleed a bit, and it is super painful to the touch. What is this?!

Hello,

As per my surgical experience, the painful, blood filled lump on waist indicates possible hematoma with inflammation or infection most likely predisposing to abscess formation. Usual bug is staph aureus in most of the cases, in my clinic, after thorough clinical examination, I do recommend:
- Culture specific antibiotics if a swab culture of discharge is possible
- Otherwise broad spectrum antibiotics with penicillin and clavulanic acid or cephalosporin
- Incision and drainage surgical procedure in resistant cases or where there is already abscess formation has taken place
