Hello,
Thanks for trusting Healthcaremagic!
I have gone through your query and I can understand your concerns.
As per your description it seems that your mother is having a
hematoma that might have developed following a
contusion caused by fall. It is nothing but a collection of blood following a
blunt trauma. You don't need to worry regarding this as it will resolve by its own. We have to rule out a
fracture even though it is very unlikely.
I suggest you to consult a general practitioner and get the following things done:-
(1)- Take an X-ray of her hand AP and oblique view to rule out fracture.
(2)- She can take analgesics like "aceclofenac" for pain.
(3)- Immobilize the affected hand, she can use a
splint for this.
(4)- Apply ice packs over the affected area. It will help to decrease pain and swelling.
Most cases improve with this conservative measures. If doctor suspect a fracture she needs an orthopedic consultation.
Hope I have answered your query.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
