What Causes A Lump In The Back Of The Throat?

Hi. I have this lump (not really sure what it is actually) sort of thing in the back of my throat, and I've got a really painful sore throat and cough, feels like I'm being stabbed in the throat every time I cough. I've tried googling the symptoms and can't really figure out what it is, so I'm going to send you through a picture of it, it wasn't easy to get a good photo, but you'll see what I'm talking about.

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have symptoms of lump in the back of the throat which are pointing towards a condition known as granular pharyngitis, which is infection of pharynx behind the uvula and it could be due to thermal burn and acid reflux as well.

Need not to worry. I would suggest you to start with betadine gargles 3-4 times a day and take small meals and avoiding large and heavy meals. Consult ENT specialist for proper diagnosis and doctor may prescribe antibiotics penicillin or amoxicillin. Take plenty of fluids in diet. For pain and swelling you should take ibuprofen or acetaminophen. You should take steam inhalation as well. Avoid hot, sharp , spicy food substances and carbonated beverages.

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Get Well Soon.

Best Wishes,
