What Causes A Low Platelet Count In A Patient With ITP?
Hello, I am 24 years old , male. I recently had a check up and it seems that my platelets are low, last month was 71.000 and now it is 63.000 ... Everything else seems normal .. I was diagnosed with ITP but my pathologist insists to get a second opinion from another haematologist! Could it be something serious? Like cancer ?
It can be due to infections (hepatitis, SLE) secondary to drugs, rare possibility of lymphoproliferative disorders or blood cancers is also! Various treatment modalities are available! Definitely hematologist opinion is needed along with learn breathing exercises. It affects the immune system and in researches has shown good results. Take treatment from hematologist.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Sunny Madar, General & Family Physician
