What Causes A Hard Lump On The Side Of The Tongue?

i am 35 years old during this week i had a sore patch on the side of my tongue which i thought might be the start of an ulcer but last night i felt a very small hard lump on the right side of my tongue about 1cm from the tip it is inside my tongue and also looks purpil over the lump. any ideas what this could be ?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...

As per your complain it seems that you have a MUCOCELE which is formed due to either clogged duct of minor salivary gland or can be due to ruptured duct of the gland caused due to injury..

You need not to worry as most of the times small mucoceles resolve by themselves and do not need any treatment..

You can do concentrated salt water rinses as it helps in regressing the lump..

In case if it does not resolve or increase in size consult an oral surgeon who can remove it surgically..
