What Causes A Hard Lump On The Head With Headache Post Injury?

I recently hit the front left side, above the end of my eyebrow, of my head on a chair, about 30 mins ago. I did not lose consciousness, but I do have a slight headache, and the area is red with a small knot. I m a nursing student and after learning about internal brain hematomas I m a bit nervous. Should I seek medical attention?

Pathologist and Microbiologist 's  Response
Hello,

A CT scan should be done after the head injury. Head injury can lead to trauma to brain tissue and hence hematoma formation. I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Shailja Puri, Pathologist and Microbiologist
