What Causes A Foul Odor From The Neck?

I have an odor from my neck only in the back of it. It seems to be getting worse. I m a very clean person and sometimes shower twice a day to help with it. I have a spot in the lower back of my head that is very tender and hurts to touch it. My Doc says it is just a fatty tumor and thinks it has nothing to do with the smell. To me it smells like some type of infection. I was on an antibiotic through the winter and while I was on it the smell almost went away. ???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

With growth at the back along with some smell and suspected discharge, it needs to be reviewed in detail to rule out any underlying infection, fistula or growth. It may need to be evaluated by a surgeon as well as ultrasound of the spot or swelling if any may be needed to look for the nature.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Wishing you a speedy recovery.

Regards,
Dr. Saddiq Ulabidin, General & Family Physician
