Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Causes A Fluttering Sensation In Lower Abdomen?
The last 2 days I have noticed a fluttering in my lower abdomen, similar to the feeling of having a baby move. I am not pregnant, but wonder what the continual movement is. I am sure that if I went to a family doctor they would roll their eyes and say it was nothing, but I keep feeling like I should find out what is going on... That crazy intuition thing.
Fluttering in the lower abdomen might be due to diaphragm spasms. Diaphragm spasms are involuntary contractions of the band of muscle that may feel like a twitch or flutter and can occur with or without pain. Fluttering or twitching in the abdomen is not a typical symptom of celiac disease or a sign of a "flare-up" or celiac reaction to gluten. Change in lifestyle (avoid late-night eating, proper sleeping, and exercise) is the key.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Muhammad Bilal Khan, General & Family Physician
