What Causes A Descended Stomach And Breathing Difficulty?

What causes a descended stomach and difficulty breathing? My husband is on o2 much of the time and is on a nebulizer 2x s a day. Often his stomach will become descended and he finds it difficult to take deep breaths. The nebulizer does not seem to be helping with this breathing issue and he s not sure what is causing the stomach thing. Any and all information is truly appreciated. Thank you.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Rather than distended stomach, conditions like ascites( increased fluid in the abdominal cavity) will be the cause. An ultrasound scan is required to make a diagnosis. Underlying causes like liver diseases must be ruled out.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
