What Causes A Bruised Lump On The Wrist?

I have what seems to be a ruptured blood vessel on the inside of my left wrist. It happened 3 days ago while at work. It s not causing me any pain, although it did when it happened, but there is still a lump and it still looks bruised. I ve been keeping a cold compress on it when not at work and keeping it wrapped while at work. I m wondering if it is normal to still be bruised like it is with a lump after three days? Like I said, it s not causing me any pain and the swollen has gone down but there is still a decent lump and dark bruising after 3 days.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

It could be contusion or hematoma. Consult a general surgeon and evaluated.

As of now, you can apply ice packs for symptomatic relief. If symptoms persist better to go for an MRI scan to get a better clinical picture.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Shinas Hussain, General & Family Physician
