What Causes A Big Red Spot On Back Of Throat And Enlarged Tonsils?

Hello, I have a big red spot, about one inch in size, on back of my throat. Does not hurt but is accompanied by larger than usual tonsils. I also have a soar throat sensation but it does not really hurt to swallow. The color is red on the sides and more purple in the center. Would appreciate your feedback on what this might be.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Hi

Welcome in HCM.

I am clear about your query for sore throat with red spot at the back of throat. As you said this red spot is having purple color in the center. Tough you have sore throat but it does not hurt.

It appears as you are having acute tonsillopharyngitis. You may take-

1- Warm saline gargling.

2- Tab Paracetamol.

3- Antibiotic (preferably broad spectrum).

Probably above will solve your problem otherwise consult your ENT doctor for thorough examination and necessary investigations to diagnose the condition and treatment.

Thanks for consulting HCM.
