Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have a 14 year old grandson and two years ago he had open heart surgery. During the surgery they found out he has a rare disease called takaysu Arteritis. For about 6 years he was taking focalyn. I may have spelled it wrong. The school system thought he should be medicated and he was diagnosed with add odd and autism...then recently I read an article that said focalyn may cause heart problems etc and was wondering if this is true. I never thought he was autistic etc he was a normal highly intelligent boy! The school wouldn t let him go to school unless on that med. So he d take focalyn in morning then at night they gave him something to make him sleep. I am just sick about this. Could years of taking focalyn caused takaysu Arteritis? Thank you.
